Many of us are walking around with a food sensitivity or intolerance we don’t know we have. Foods such as dairy or eggs can cause all kinds of symptoms—like headaches, fatigue, depression and skin rashes. To find what it is take your pulse before and after you eat the suspected food, says Ellen Cutler, MD,. If your pulse is either noticeably faster and more forceful or slower and weaker, then you are almost certainly sensitive to that food. When you notice this change in pulse, you can reduce your intake of the culprit food and see if your other symptoms ease up.

*The Difference Between Allergies and Sensitivities *
Allergies occur when your immune system overreacts to environmental triggers, causing tissue inflammation, organ dysfunction and an array of other symptoms.
Sensitivities on the other hand may include both true allergies and/or reactions that are not triggered by your immune system. So whereas allergies typically trigger immediate antibody reactions in your bloodstream, sensitivities trigger slower responses within your cells.

Are there certain foods you crave often, such as milk, ice cream, pasta or bread, for example? Ironically, the foods you crave are often the foods that cause you problems; that you have sensitivity to.

*How to Figure Out What Foods You’re Allergic to*
One of the best things you can do if you believe you are suffering from a food allergy is to do a diet elimination challenge. Simply remove all foods that contain what you believe you are allergic to and see if your symptoms improve over the next few days. You may need to go as long as five days to give it a full trial.
If the symptoms disappear in one day, of course you have your answer. The real clincher, though, is to reintroduce the food or drink (on an empty stomach). If the suspected food is the culprit you will generally be able to feel the symptoms return within an hour.
This can be difficult if you eat a lot of processed foods, as these often contain "hidden" ingredients like corn, milk, soy, wheat, yeast and artificial additives that are often problematic. The most suspect foods will be those eaten daily or more than once a week, as well as foods that you crave or eat at night.
In extreme cases where it is difficult to isolate the offending food, you may even need to go on a fast to see if your symptoms resolve.
*Why You Should Always Address Your Food Allergies*
After you identify what foods you are allergic to, you will want to avoid them as much as possible. Your symptoms will likely disappear or improve once you reduce your exposure.
If you don't take measures to address food allergies, you can end up with permanent, long-term damage. Allergies can put constant and unnecessary stress on the immune system that will weaken it over time, possibly leading to chronic or degenerative disease.

We use this approach in my clinic with really great results. It is quite shocking how many people are actually gluten sensitive; their condition radically improves once the wheat is removed from their diet.
Making certain that enough long-chain animal based omega-3 fats (DHA and EPA) from fish or krill oils are included in your diet is also helpful, and another trick that also frequently helps is to add some beneficial bacteria to your gut by taking a high quality probiotic.
Chemical sensitivity is a very real affliction, and those who suffer from it are not making their symptoms up. Watch the videos, listen to the audio tapes on this site and prove this to yourselves. You also need to learn to verify if the food you eat makes you weaker or stronger. This is easily done by muscle testing. Get a friend to help you. Put one hand on one of your shoulders and stretch the other arm out, Your friend will try to push the stretched arm down using only two fingers from his/her other hand and pushing down on the bones at your wrist while you resist. You will then know how strong you are without anything in your mouth. Then put about a half teaspoon of a food or drink you use quite a bit on your tongue and repeat the same test. If it strengthens you, you will have more strength to resist, if it does no harm your resistance will be the same and if it is bad for you, you will be unable to resist to the degree that it is bad. If you don't drink water or use good salt, muscle test with them and you will be amazed. Especially try the worst things like any caffeinated or alcoholic drink and junk foods. That should prove to you how bad they are.
If you are a spiritual skeptic, after you are through testing, go back to a food that you know should be good for you yet weakened you, and say this prayer. Bless this food with God's light and grace and give it the energy to heal, strengthen and nourish my body. Then retest using the same food and note how your prayer has made you stronger and able to tolerate it.
I had intermittent weakness for 18 months and couldn't find the answer. At the same time when I became weak my BP went up, sometimes soaring even though most of the time it was perfect. A chiropractor friend, Dr. Carol Perfilio of Scranton, muscle tested me and found the foods that my body was intolerant of and then showed me how the power of prayer made me tolerant of them. You should also muscle test with any drugs you are using so you will immediately know if the drug is making your body weaker or stronger.

It is stated in the highly recommended book called "Curing food Allergies" by Alan Hunter, low body temperature under 97.8 is in the danger zone and that must be corrected to get cured of food allergies. I just purchased this book on August 11, 2006 (today it is August 13, 2006) and I'm finding it very interesting. I'll write more as I make progress. The book is a must read for anyone like me who has food allergies. My temperature is in the 97.2 to 97.3 range and the book specifies a diet to get it back in range. The only thing that I strongly disagree with is that the diet restricts salt and I guess that restriction is what causes the cure to take as long as it does, around a year or more. Bob Butts
